Cloth for the Coast - Help Now!

I was super late on the whole oil spill thing. We don’t have TV so I never saw news coverage of it, and I don’t visit CNN.com on a daily monthly basis (which I obviously need to). So a month later when I caught wind of this crisis, I was still a little behind. I started thinking about it, and then realizing all of the animals out in the gulf. I asked Christopher and my dad about it and they said dozens of animals were dying. I’m a huge animal lover and I was heartbroken. I try not to look at pictures, but sometimes I can’t help it.

I wanted to know how in the world could I help! I can’t go down there and help, I have a baby. I’m not in the financial situation where I can send money.

Then today I learned that Fuzzibunz is sponsoring Cloth For The Coast. They are taking donations of used cloth diapers, prefolds, microfiber towels/washcloths, baby blankets, etc to aid in the cleaning of marine animals.

I’m definitely participating. I have a lot of microfiber washcloths I got from Target dollar section I wanted to use as diaper doublers. I have tons of baby blankets (as I’m sure we all do… There are just so many cute blankets, everyone gives you one lol).

Will you participate? To my cloth diaper friends, just one prefold from your stash can go to help a sea turtle or pelican. You won’t even notice it’s gone! Postage would only be like a dollar! In Goodwill? See a worn blanket for a dollar? Grab it and send it to the Gulf! Babies all grown? Don’t know what to do with all the blankets? Send them to the coast!

If you’re local (Charleston, SC) I would be more than happy to take your donations and box them and send them on their way. Save you some postage and a trip to the post office ;)

What a great idea! I have been wondering the same thing. I’m in the same boat as you, can’t go down there cause of the baby and can’t send money since I stay home and things are already tight, but I can totally do this! I love it! Thanks so much for the info!
