About
My name is Katie! I am a home grown southern girl that loves anything and everything girlie! I’m an only child, raised in a loving home on the coast of Carolina. I dreamed my whole life of getting married and having babies and vacuuming. And once or twice I wanted to be an astronaut…
Currently, my husband Christopher & I are separated. It was a hard decision, but we know it’s what is healthiest and best for our gorgeous son Austin. Austin is my LIFE and I love him with every ounce of my being!
In 2008 we found out we were PREGNANT! We were overjoyed in every way possible. But heartbreakingly I miscarried at 5 weeks. I had a really really hard time with the loss. We tried for another year before I started a round of Clomid (100mgs, started CD4).
May 2nd, 2009 I took a pregnancy test, laid it on the sink, and barely gave it a second first glance. Months and months of negative tests had turned pessimist me into a full blown Eeyore. But alas, there was a line, and another line! I forgot all about my plans to tell Christopher on positive day with a scavenger hunt and ran screaming into the next room (after rechecking the test um… 200 times. Okay 300).
That was Saturday morning and Monday am I was at the door, ready for a pee and blood test. Confirmed! I was baby baking! With my super awesome connections in Radiology departments across the Lowcountry I only had like one bajillion ultrasounds. I found out that in fact my little Clomid baby was TWO!
But another heartbreak was afoot and I lost Baby A at 8 weeks. Baby B was hanging on and the name Baby Bumble B was born (thanks Mom!).
I was sick as a dog, exhausted, having contractions from 15 weeks on… I was one hot miserable pregnant mess. When I delivered Austin emergency C Section on Thanksgiving day 2009, 6 weeks early, my placenta proved to be small, shredded, and unlikely to have sustained life for much longer. Thank goodness the anti-contraction meds made us both sick which launched us into the CS. I don’t even want to think about what could have happened…
Austin was born 4lbs 10ozs. He lost 10ounces and reached his low at 4 pounds. His inability to gain and maintain temps kept him in the NICU for 15 days. He came home at 4lb 15oz. You can find Austin’s birth stories here and here on the old digs, Baby Bumble B.
This blog is about my life with Austin. I breastfeed, cosleep, cloth diaper, babywear, and practice many Attachment Parenting beliefs. I am a Christian. I love pink, the beach, and summer. I drive a VW Beetle and am addicted to my iPhone. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I get upset and mad easily, and I hate to hurt people’s feelings. But if you mess with one of my friends (real or online), I will come after you! My mom is my best friend and I am a daddy’s girl.

You live in the LowCountry too?! My family and I moved to Savannah last April. Are you close? Hubby (Kyle) and I just spent a long weekend in Charleston and had a wonderful time. We much prefer SC over GA but we’re stuck here for now. I found you on CrunchyVTMommy’s MFM and I’m excited to follow. I’ve added your button to my “Crunchtastics to Follow” section because even after one day I’m lovin’ your blog.
